  1. Commercial and Strategic Partnership with Ace Cafe London

    Posted on

The Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development has announced a strategic partnership with the Ace Cafe London that will see the two organisations create a series of commercial, marketing and promotional initiatives around both the TT Races and the new Classic TT Races.

The TT Races are widely acknowledged as one of the world's leading motorsport events while Ace Cafe London, since its inception in 1938, has developed into an internationally licensed brand, with outlets and representatives in USA, Germany, Finland, Japan and, most recently, China.

As part of the partnership, Ace Cafe London will recreate the iconic venue in the Classic TT paddock by offering customers the same menu that can be found in the North West London venue. It will also be decorated with instantly recognisable memorabilia and is expected to quickly become a popular meeting point for bike fans.

The Ace crew will also be taking over the VIP Hospitality facility at the heart of the paddock on Saturday 24th August for the 'Ace Cafe Classic TT Party' that will feature bands playing instantly recognisable rock and roll tracks from the fifties and sixties.

A range of premium merchandise, featuring both the Classic TT and instantly recognisable Ace Cafe 'Clubs' insignia is being produced and will be available at this year's Classic TT meeting at the end of August.

To celebrate the partnership, legendary TT Racer Philip McCallen, who famously made history by winning four races in a week in 1996, will lead an exclusive group of fans in a ride out from the Ace Cafe in London to the Isle of Man Classic TT Races in August.

The 'Ace to Race' package, priced at £2000 plus VAT includes the Classic TT Paddock Carnival on Friday 23rd August, VIP Hospitality for both Classic TT Race Days and a ticket to the Ace Cafe Party on Saturday night and the TT Heroes Dinner on Sunday evening. It also includes five nights accommodation at the four star Claremont hotel on Douglas promenade and return sailings on The Steam Packet from Liverpool. The package is limited to just 8 places.

The partnership will also see the TT and Classic TT promoted globally as part of the Ace Cafe’s event programme at trade shows and other motorcycle events.

  4. Hot Rod: Circa 1953 Levi's Film & Exhibition

    Posted on

Running through to Thursday 14th March, Ace Cafe London hosts a special Levi's vintage clothing exhibition...

commencing Hot Rod Night, Wednesday 6th March from 6pm, to include Hot Rod: Circa 1953, a Levi's vintage clothing film by Aaron Rose.

Levi’s® Vintage Clothing digs deep into the Levi’s  Archives to reproduce iconic garments from bygone eras. For Spring 2013, Levi’s® Vintage Clothing pays tribute to the golden era of the American Hot Rod, and the sharply dressed car owners and spectators who sported Levi's.

In addition to releasing the collection of Hot Rod-inspired Levi's jeans and Sportswear, the Brand teamed up with Los Angeles-based filmmaker and curator Aaron Rose (Beautiful Losers, Art in the Streets, Sister Corita etc.) to make a short film about the origins of Hot Rod culture in Southern California back in the early 1950's.

Rose pulled from hundreds of hours of painstakingly researched archival footage ranging from old "juvenile delinquent" movies and Life Magazine drag-race films to home movies unearthed from personal collections. He also interviewed some of the surviving founders of the scene, including legends like world champion drag-racer "TV Tommy" Ivo and master painter, cartoonist and car enthusiast Robert Williams, whose name is almost synonymous with the culture.

The result is a striking and fast-paced film that captures the style and attitude of the uniquely American post-war subculture which continues to influence the worlds of fashion, music and mechanics to this day.

Courtesy of the UK label Vee-Tone Records - "The Memphis Jukebox", Volumes 1.2.3, is a selection of tracks carefully chosen by Vee-Tone to demonstrate the young Elvis Presley's wide musical tastes, including Blues, Rhythm n ' Blues, Rockabilly and Rock n' Roll.

David Gillespie of Vee-Tone Records said; "This is a truly unique and historic collection.  Whilst many of the records individually will have been heard before, together they give a remarkable insight into Elvis's life and musical influences.  Every time you press "play" to listen to this collection, you are recreating a moment in time, a moment in Elvis's life when he would press "play" on his personal jukebox in Graceland".
