Make it a Father’s Day to remember at Beaulieu’s Hot Rod & Custom Show on Sunday 19th June, with a family-friendly show packed with impressive motors in the grounds of the National Motor Museum.
Celebrating the truly individual creations of the motoring world, a colourful line-up of customised cars and hot rods, American motors, awesome motorbikes and trikes and pre-1980 classics will fill the showground, while live entertainment and dancing will make it an unforgettable summer day out. Held in association with the Solent Renegades club, the Hot Rod & Custom Show is too good to be missed.
Last year’s show brought together a varied selection of machines, from Mercurys, Chevrolets, Plymouths, Dodges, Edsels and Pontiacs, to slammed trucks, rat-look roadsters, stripped-down rods and even modified British classics such as a pro-street Humber Super Snipe and a 1934 Sunbeam Dawn hot rod. Also taking pride of place was an incredible hand-built 1931 Auburn special, a selection of high-powered bikes and trikes and a vibrant line-up of colourful customs.
This year promises to be equally impressive, so get set to have your imagination fired up by the wide variety of cool vehicles on show. Prizes will be awarded for top machines, with trophies for Best Custom, Best American, Best Hot Rod, Best Bike and Best in Show.
Legendary custom car builder and Hot Rod & Custom Show ambassador Andy Saunders will be at the show, meeting custom fans and talking about his latest projects. While Classic American magazine will be returning to the show to hold the heats for its Car of the Year competition, with unmodified American cars of any era invited to compete.
Get your feet tapping to brilliant music throughout the day, with Company B performing rousing retro tunes on stage, then get dancing with how-to demonstrations from Jitterbug Jive. With face painting for youngsters too, there’s plenty for the whole family to get involved with.
Don’t miss the Chevrolet Bel Air inside the National Motor Museum, on show as part of the packed exhibition Bond in Motion – No Time To Die. Featured in the latest Bond film, you can see this fascinating American classic up close, alongside several of the film’s other automotive stars.
Participants are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance at www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/hot-rod-and-custom, which also include entrance to the rest of the Beaulieu attraction. The British Motor Museum is inviting visitors to step back in time when it hosts the ‘Classic and Vintage Commercial Show’ on 11 & 12 June. The show offers visitors a rare opportunity to reminisce about days gone by and relive the vintage era by seeing hundreds of pre-2002 commercial vehicles including trucks, vans and pick-ups.
The ‘Classic and Vintage Commercial Show’ is one of the largest shows of its kind in Europe and features a display of vehicles from vans such as Ford Transits, Morris Minors and J Types, to lighter lorries from Austin, Bedford, Dodge and Ford Thames, through to heavier lorries such as AECs, Atkinsons, ERFs, Fodens and Leylands.
2022 marks the Shelvoke and Drewry (SD) centenary and the show organisers want to celebrate this important milestone by gathering as many of these vehicles as possible. Shelvoke and Drewry was a Letchworth, Hertfordshire manufacturer of special purpose commercial vehicles. It was best known for its innovative waste collection vehicles that were the preferred choice of municipal authorities in the UK.
This year also celebrates 100 years of Scammell – another centenary at the show. This milestone is being celebrated with a Scammell display being put together by the Museum in conjunction with The Scammell Register and The Mechanical Horse Club.
Throughout the weekend there will be a large commercial vehicle related autojumble selling vehicle spares, photos, brochures, models, and other items. Inside there will be two large Indoor Model Shows, organised by Ashley Coghill and the National Association of Road Transport Modellers. Over 160 tables will showcase kit and scratch-built models of commercial vehicles and landscapes.
Tom Caren, Show Manager at the British Motor Museum stated “Whether you’re a fan of commercial vehicles, interested in vintage history or want to see the commercial vehicles that were on the roads in your youth, then this show is for you. We are expecting lots of vintage commercial vehicles from familiar marques to rare finds to take everyone on a fascinating nostalgia trip. Along with admiring many different types of commercial vehicles, there will also be some great bargains at the trade stands!”
Kelsey Media will be supporting the show and selling several of their publications including Classic & Vintage Commercials, Heritage Commercials and Vintage Roadscene.
Those wanting to take part in the show can enter their truck for FREE which includes entry for the driver and one passenger. Vehicle entries close on Thursday 9 June.
Camping is also available for those that want to make a weekend of it. Saturday advance show tickets cost £14.50 per adult, £9 per child, £12.50 per concession and £40 for a family. Sunday is the busiest day of the show and one of the 5 Annual Pass exempt event days. Advance tickets cost £18 per adult, £10 per child, £16 per concession and £46 for a family. Or visit on both days with an advance weekend ticket for £28 per adult, £17 per child, £24 per concession and £63 for a family.

- Award-winning Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be on display
- Bespoke builder Thornton Hundred will present its ‘Bobber Black’
- Krazy Horse to celebrate Indian Motorcycles
Salon Privé London will not only be welcoming some of the greatest cars ever built to Royal Hospital Chelsea for its inaugural event on 21-23 April, it will also be hosting the most prestigious names from the motorcycle world, with heritage and innovation coming together to create what is sure to be a memorable line-up. MV Agusta London will be making the short journey to Salon Privé London from its nearby showroom in Sloane Avenue, and the famous marque will be represented by two of its latest models. Like all MV Agustas, they are hand-built in the historic factory on the shores of Lake Varese in northern Italy, using the finest materials and the most advanced technologies. The Superveloce S is a serious performance machine ready to tear up the track that just happens to have extremely charming neo-classic looks - it is a real head turner. Cruise the streets or hit the track with the available Racing Kit. 147hp and SuperSport race DNA assures this bike gives you everything you ask for. The Superveloce S will be joined at Salon Privé London by the AMO. Representing MV Agusta’s much-anticipated entry into the world of electric bicycles, it features that unmistakable Italian flair and elegance, and is built with the same passion as the brand’s legendary motorbikes. Warr’s was founded on Chelsea’s Kings Road in 1924 by Captain Frederick James Warr and became an official Harley-Davidson dealer that same year. Since then, it has become synonymous with the brand – which started life in 1903 in a small shed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – and is now Europe’s oldest and biggest-selling Harley-Davidson dealership group. The marque continues to define motorcycle culture and lifestyle, and at Salon Privé London Warr’s will be presenting the award-winning all-electric LiveWire. With instant power and no clutch to release or gears to run through, the LiveWire will accelerate from 0-60mph in three seconds, while still offering a city range of 146 miles. Seven selectable Ride Modes electronically control its performance characteristics, and there are two charging options to choose from.
It will be on display at Salon Privé London alongside other Harley-Davidson models including the PanAmerican, FatBob, Sportster and Street Glide. British company Thornton Hundred specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke motorcycles, and thanks to the efforts of founder Jody Millhouse, it’s one of the world’s fastest-growing custom motorcycle brands. With an ethos of ‘anything is possible’, it has built bikes for the likes of Joe Wicks, rugby stars Jack Nowell and Josh Navidi, and Gymshark founder Ben Francis, using the latest technology and engineering expertise in order to provide reliability as well as style. Each of its machines is hand-built in its facility near London, with all the initial design work, manufacturing and assembly being carried out in-house. Thornton Hundred will be at Salon Privé London with its striking Triumph Bonneville Bobber Black, which is fitted with everything from the signature Thornton Hundred wide-wheel kit and a bespoke painted tank to a custom handmade twin side exhaust. Indian Motorcycle and Krazy Horse proudly opened the UK’s first dedicated Indian Motorcycle Brand Experience Centre on Kensington High Street in February 2022 – and now they will be bringing it to Salon Privé London. Previously the iconic home of the Bristol Car Company, the showroom has been fully refurbished over two floors and allows a complete range of Indian motorcycles, accessories, clothing and heritage to be displayed, and all of it will be centre-stage at Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Salon Privé London promises to be London’s most exclusive automotive event, with plenty to see and do in addition to the motoring attractions. The shopping village will host luxury fashion brands including renowned British jewellery designer Boodles. Everything from Patek Philippe watches to Riva motor boats and Bell helicopters will be on offer, as will the first-class hospitality for which Salon Privé has long been renowned. Pommery Champagne will flow and London Essence cocktail bars will offer exciting cocktails from NoMad, Louie and the Donovan Bar mixologists. To complement this, Salon Privé has partnered with renowned and innovative hospitality group JKS Restaurants to provide guests with a unique dining offering. This will include dishes from the Michelin-starred Gymkhana, Indian BBQ classics by Brigadiers, and cult Taiwanese specialists BAO. In addition, there will be plates from Fitzrovia’s The George and Chelsea’s The Cadogan Arms, providing pub fare that celebrates the best of British produce, making Salon Privé London a real foodie’s delight. There’s also the option to enjoy a sumptuous three-course seated luncheon in The Sloane – the event’s exclusive VIP Hospitality Pavilion – while DJs will keep guests entertained into the evening. On the Thursday and Friday, Salon Privé London will be open until 9pm, allowing everyone to soak up the party atmosphere as dusk falls. Salon Privé London is donating 20% of all Entry Ticket revenue to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) via Work for Good. #StandWithUkraine

The British Motor Museum’s 'Gaydon Gathering' events return for 2022 on Tuesday 12 April from 5pm – 8pm. Informal, fun evenings aimed at motoring enthusiasts, these events are completely free to attend, taking place outdoors on the Museum's arenas on the second Tuesday every month. Up to 500 vehicles attended each of the 2021 Gatherings with a truly eclectic mix of vehicle types, makes and models. All vehicles are welcome, no matter how many wheels they have or where and when they were made.
Whilst free to attend, pre-booking is essential and tickets will be released online a few weeks before each event and will be announced on social media. Tickets for the April Gaydon Gathering are available from 22 March and when they are gone, they’re gone!

It’s an opportunity for petrol heads to indulge their passion, whilst enjoying a burger and drink, hopefully in the spring sunshine! It doesn’t matter if you have a vehicle or not, or if your vehicle is British or not, if it’s a car, commercial, military, bus, motorbike, scooter, tractor or any other interesting vehicle, just bring it along!”
Display vehicles will be parked in front of the Museum whilst there will be separate free parking for those visitors who aren’t displaying. Visitors can enjoy refreshments including burgers as well as hot and soft drinks. Wriggly Monkey Brewing from Bicester will also be on-site selling their range of lagers and ales.
