  1. The British Motor Museum has launched its Online Collections, enabling anyone to explore and find out more about the collection vehicles documented in detail on the website. This is the culmination of a number of years behind the scenes work, including during lockdown. By digitising the vehicle collections, the Museum is inviting anyone to learn, enjoy and be inspired by the heritage that it preserves.

During the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, the Museum recognised the importance of connecting with people, especially when the building was unable to open to the public. During this period, technology helped people across the globe to learn and communicate. Behind the scenes at the Museum, work was underway to implement this concept across the vehicle collection.

Cat Boxall, Curator at the British Motor Museum, said “Collections and artefacts form a major part of the draw of the Museum, as being valuable resources to tell stories about environments, places, processes and people throughout history. In exploring and learning about the collections when the doors were closed to the public, it has become increasingly clear that the impact of the British motor industry is felt far beyond the reaches of the UK. The launch of the Online Collections portal enables access for audiences anywhere in the world”.

The British Motor Museum loves to work with people, collections and places across the UK. Another feature of the Online Collections means that staff, researchers and visitors alike will be able to access all the information about any vehicle in the collection and where it is currently on display – be that on loan, at an event, in the Museum or in the Collections Centre building.

Alongside the location of vehicles, users of the Online Collections will be able to see more technical vehicle information, images of the cars and key historic information associated with each entry. Having a vast collection of around 400 cars makes it difficult to get everything on display, but the access that the new portal provides means that even the unseen portions of the Museum’s collection can be enjoyed by anyone!

Launched as part of the Heritage Open Days festival to raise awareness and appreciation of the amazing collection, the Museum hopes the Online Collections portal will add to the growing digital presence of the Museum as it continues to develop online exhibitions programmes following the success of Metro at Forty back in 2020.

The portal can be assessed by the public through the Museum’s normal website from 9 September at: https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/explore/collections/car-collection

  2. Nobody wants to put themselves in a situation in which their money is disappearing down the drain every month, but they do not have a clear idea of exactly where it is going in the first place. To combat this potential problem, it will be worth accurately tracking your monthly expenses. Here are a few steps that you can put into action to make this a realistic prospect.

Keep an Eye on Account Statements

If you have never had a clear budget before, the first step you will need to take is to keep a closer eye on your account statements to see what is going on here. This way, you will be able to see exactly where your money is going every month. If you notice any unnecessary or even excessive spending, your statement will show it – and you can take action in these areas once you know about them.

Many people spend a lot without noticing until they look at their statements, which is why monitoring them and checking them regularly is one of the keys to successful budgeting and expenditure tracking.

    Put Your Expenses into Categories

The next step you can take is to put your expenses right there into categories. The most obvious one of these is going to be essential and nonessential spending, but you can also break it down into areas such as office spending, travel, entertainment, etc. You can then think about ways to cut back on areas that need it the most.

Ultimately, even the essentials category can be looked at as it will include areas such as food, broadband, utilities, etc., and you may be able to grab a better deal elsewhere. Even essentials can be cut or replaced with more affordable alternatives, which is what many people are doing these days, given the extreme rise in living costs society is currently facing.

    Use Budgeting Tools

While some people still prefer to do things the old-fashioned way with a pen and paper, there are all sorts of modern budgeting tools out there that can be highly useful in terms of ensuring that you are tracking your overall spending in real-time. There are also individual accounts and tools that you can use, such as a Shell fuel card to monitor and save on essentials like petrol and diesel. Another one is using supermarket loyalty cards and accounts for clocking up points and discounts on your shopping. Whatever the expense, it will be worth experimenting with different tools to see how much and how often you can save money and stay in line with your budget.

    Conclusion

Tracking your monthly expenses does not have to be an overly complicated task, but it can prove to make all the difference if you want to put yourself in a situation in which your costs

are much lower than your outgoings. Overspending without noticing is all too easy – and most people are guilty of this at some point in life. However, by properly monitoring and sticking to a budget, unnecessary and excessive spending can be reduced and managed.

  3. A brand-new trio of events is a about to get underway for the MotoGP World Championship and Team Gresini is ready for this demanding challenge, which will take the Faenza-based squad first to Alcañiz (Spain), then to Motegi (Giappone) and Buriram (Thailand).

This second half of the season is shaping up to be a tour the force, with Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio ready to test their fitness condition and the set-up solutions found in the recent test at Misano on very different tracks.

The upcoming venues are on paper among the favourable ones for the two Gresini standard bearers, especially by looking back at previous editions. Bastianini stepped onto the Aragón  podium five times between 2016 and 2020 (three times in Moto3 and two in Moto2); he also won once in Japan in 2016 (Moto3), while he has an 11th place as best result so far at Buriram.

On the other side of the garage, Di Giannantonio has been on the podium in Spain and Thailand: he was 2ndat Alcañiz in 2017 and on the top step at Buriram one year later. His best finish in Japan so far is a 7th place in 2017.

ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (4º in the championship standings with 138 points)
“It’s going to be a difficult trio, but we’re charged up and we have momentum. I have a great feeling with Aragon and even last year I did well there in my MotoGP debut. Regarding Japan and Thailand, it will all be a discovery with my Ducati, but I believe that right now we can be fast in every condition. The goal is to finish the season the best way possible, and this trio will be key.”

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (20º in the championship standings with 23 points)
“This is surely the most challenging moment of the season for many reasons: long travels, time-zone difference, food… we’re coming off a positive test and we will start off with Aragon, which is a track I like a lot and where I hope I can confirm the positive feeling found with the bike. It will be nice to return to Japan and Thailand because we haven’t been there in a while, and I can’t wait. We’re charged up for this trio.”

  4. #MisanoTest. An important, two-day test has drawn to a close for Team Gresini MotoGP on the track that last weekend hosted the fourteenth round of the World Championship. The Faenza-based squad worked at full capacity with the goal to better prepare for what is going to be a really demanding last stretch of the season.

After being very quick throughout the race weekend, Enea Bastianini kept the momentum going in this last official test of 2022. The Italian, who came extremely close to winning the race on Sunday, has worked on some fine-tuning ahead of the next races with excellent speed and pace (he was fourth quickest). The rider #23 did not have time to test an experimental front tyre brought by Michelin, which could be used next year.

Fabio Di Giannantonio worked on the bike set-up and found a great feeling with his Desmosedici GP21, especially with higher temperatures. With many laps completed and an improved confidence, the #49 was the tenth quickest rider in the test.

    ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (1’31.260)
“It was a positive test. We completed a lot of laps, we were quick and we also tried something set-up wise that improved the feeling with the bike. My personal quickest lap was set yesterday after 27 laps with the same tyre, so I feel very positive. We haven’t made huge steps forward, but we were already very so we only had to do some fine tuning. We are leaving Misano with great expectations for the last races of the year.”

    FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (1’31.605)
“This test was a very positive one. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that much because we didn’t have new parts to try, but we tested some different configurations that I liked and I felt very good on the bike. We gathered plenty of data without going for longer runs and we’re happy. It’s true that this track was perfect and we’ll need to test these solutions at other tracks and in different conditions. Now we will rest a bit before the three consecutive rounds waiting for us.”
