![Roughleys Bike Show 2017]( "Roughleys Bike Show 2017")
17th Annual Stockport Bike Show. Bike show, live bands, Roughleys collectable and legendary clothing, trade stalls, face painting, bouncy castle, tombola, raffle and more… All welcome, including bikes, trikes and scooters.
Bike show entrants to have their machines onto site by 11am, prizegiving will be at 4pm by Andrew Roughley. Bands will be playing until late.
Fundraising for NABD, Rainbow Family Trust and The Together Trust.
venue: St Petersgate, Stockport, (near Manchester) Cheshire, SK1 1HE. Midday until 10pm.
price: £3. Under 16's free must be with an adult - must be off site by 8pm.

People who want to learn to ride a motorcycle or scooter will get the chance to try for free during the August bank holiday weekend at a three-day event in Warwickshire.
Get On, which is the motorcycle industry’s free ‘try out’ programme, will be offering 45-minute taster lessons in the grounds of the British Motor Museum on Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th August. These will be available between 9am and 5.30pm each day.
Karen Cole, Director of Safety and Training for the Motorcycle Industry Association, which backs Get On events, says this is an ideal introduction to motorcycling:
“First and foremost motorcycling is fun, but it is vital that people get their first taste of riding in a safe and structured environment, where expectations about wearing protective clothing are set and people understand the value of finding high quality training.
“Government vehicle licensing figures show that more and more people are riding motorcycles and scooters each year and we want them to wear the right gear and take training with the best schools in the UK. So whether you are looking for a new hobby in retirement, or you are 16 years old and planning to get your first moped, Get On will get you started in the right way.”
What happens at a Get On event?
Riders are introduced to the gears, brakes and slow speed handling by a professional instructor. Motorcycles and protective clothing are all provided, so riders just need to wear long jeans and sturdy shoes. There is no cost at all.
Riders will also be given advice about wearing protective clothing and how to find an accredited local trainer, should they decide to take their interest further, as well as learning what licences are needed for different sized motorcycles.
Get On is suitable for anyone aged 14 or over who wants to learn to ride, from complete beginners to those who are thinking of returning to biking after a break.
Sessions can be booked beforehand by phoning 02476 408040, or via the website www.geton.co.uk or people can turn up and book on the day (subject to availability). Under 16s must bring an adult or guardian.
People can also combine their Get On experience with a visit to the British Motor Museum. The museum is open 10am to 5pm and traces the history of the British motor industry using film, photography and over 300 British cars, which is the largest collection of its kind in the world! Admission prices can be found on the museum’s website. The museum is off junction 12 of the M40, CV35 OBJ.

Women;
Three weeks before;
- Book hair, nail, eyebrow appointment
- Buy hair colour
- Search e-bay/Amazon for new outfit
- Look at your womanly physique in the mirror... decide that you need to lose a stone in 3 weeks, so make mental note to do workout, sit-ups, squats, etc, every day
- Save small amount of your favourite toiletries, face cleanser, toner, eye make up remover, day cream, night cream, eye cream, factor 15 for the face and factor 8 for the body (the sun WILL come out), body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair product one (to give it body), hair product two (to make it straight), hair product three (to make it glossy) hair product four (so it does not frizz), hair product five (to keep it in place)
Two weeks before;
- Buy new outfit (two of just in case), found using searches such as 'Biker babe', 'biker rally outfit', 'black goth', 'black basque ladies', etc...
- Start tan-tastic preparations, scrub flesh and moisturise
The week before;
- Dye hair, hair cut, buy new hair product
- Eyebrows waxed
- Get nails done in Biker themed design and/or to match bike (and pedicure if its summer)
- Apply self-tanning creams (unless goth)
- Look in shops for a new outfit (just in case you see one you like better than the two you bought last week)
The day before;
- Sort out the clothing you are taking into piles
- The clothing you are wearing on a hanger
- All other items hidden, so that your Victor Meldrew husband does not say "Do you think you are taking that lot for two days!"
The day of;
- Face pack, condition hair, shave armpits and legs, apply make up with no mascara (to avoid panda eyes on the way in gale force winds)
- Try to pack 10 tops, three pairs of jeans, 3 sets of matching underwear, toiletries (as above), towel (the size of a small country) into small bag
- Text mates to see if they are taking hairdryers and/or straighteners as you realise you have gone over your allocation baggage allowance
- Moisturise whole body, get dressed putting on extra layers of clothing that you could not fit into small bag
- Put extra items you forgot to pack into coat pockets
Men;
- Put tent on bike
- Take toothbrush if longer than one night
- Moan at woman at the amount of luggage she is taking for two nights
- Put on 'Rally' pants, club t and leather vest
- Go...
Of course those apologies to all women who are lower maintenance and men who are higher...

For one day a year, however, thousands of Distinguished Gentleman (and genteel ladyfolk) in hundreds of cities worldwide press their cravats, starch their tweed and sit astride their classic-styled motorcycles to raise funds for prostate cancer research and awareness.
It’s a day all about spreading merriment, while raising awareness of a really important issue, that affects 1 in 8 blokes across the world. The fundraising supports research into Men's Health by bringing together dapper riders of classic machines, cafe racers, bobbers, custom motorcycles, trackers and undefinable two-wheeled creations.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a celebration of the art of being dapper and the style of classic custom motorcycles. What does that mean, you ask? Think: Monocles, jaunty trimmed moustaches, silk vests, crisp shirts and tailored suits. Ride: Café Racers, Bobbers, Flat Trackers, Scramblers and quirky, undefinable two-wheeled machines. The styles of bike should be reflective of classic motorcycle nature. Think 1970's and the decades before them. Do: Bring your finest manners, neatest beards and a sense of fun and adventure.
Pay: Nothing to ride (entry is free); but please consider helping our charities by getting your friends and family to sponsor your involvement. Or buy a patch, cap or tshirt. Every little bit helps. Dapper for a Cause: Where we’ve come from and where we’re headed.
In 2014, there was 20,000 smartly-dressed gentlefolk in 258 cities across 57 countries.
In 2016, there was more than 56,000 dapper riders in over 500 cities across 90 countries, that united for the world’s largest motorcycling charity event upon their classic & vintage styled motorcycles, in the name of men’s health.
