Borgo Panigale (Bologna) / Ingolstadt, 15 March 2018 – Ducati closes 2017 with convincing results, prolonging the trend of constant growth that has characterised the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer's last eight years. 55,871 motorcycles were delivered to customers all over the world (+0.8% vs. 2016), despite the global market for motorcycles bigger than 500 cc actually shrinking by 3.5%. By the end of 2017 turnover had reached € 736 million, representing another step forward in a growth trend that has seen sales increase by nearly 30% over the last five years. The operating result was € 51 million (2016: € 51 million) with an operating margin of 7%.
The Audi Group financial data for 2017, in which Ducati represents the motorcycling segment, was released during the annual press conference held at the AUDI AG headquarters in Ingolstadt.
“This strong performance confirms the soundness of the product development strategy undertaken in recent years”, stated Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. “In 2017 we laid the foundations for further, future development of the company. We launched seven new models on the market. Furthermore, we presented the Panigale V4, the first Ducati factory bike to mount a 4-cylinder engine, the outcome of the biggest investment Ducati has ever channelled into a single product. 2017 also saw further development of the Scrambler range. At EICMA the Scrambler brand presented the first completely new bike since its founding: the Scrambler 1100, which adds an all-new dimension to the Ducati Scrambler world by injecting big-bike technology, performance and ultra-high quality finishing.”
“The quality of the results underlines Ducati's strong profitability and financial resilience”, commented André Stoffels, CFO of Ducati Motor Holding. “Even with significantly higher investment in product innovation, the global expansion of the Ducati sales network, digitalization of both our products and our core processes and, last but not least, our huge commitment to racing, we've still achieved an operating margin of 7%.”
At this time, Ducati Motor Holding has a total of 1,570 employees. The Ducati sales network has 780 dealerships in over 90 countries.

The Ducati Roadshow heads to southwest Wales on Saturday the 24th March for the first of 24 Roadshows across the country. Riders of Cardiff will host the first date before the Ducati UK demo fleet moves on to Buckinghamshire and Ducati Aylesbury two weeks later.
The Ducati event truck and demonstrator fleet has become a permanent fixture on the Ducati UK events calendar and for 2018 the number of dates has been increased due to customer and dealer demand. The roadshow provides its dealer network with an extended test fleet and experienced road test guides who will map out routes to take in a variety of roads and conditions to fully assess the bikes capabilities. Pillion riders may also join in the test rides for the chance to appraise the ergonomics of these machines.
*The demonstrator fleet showcases the majority of the 2018 range including the new Panigale V4 S, 959 Panigale, Multistrada 1260, Multistrada 950, SuperSport and the soon to be launched Scrambler 1100. All models are subject to availability and the booking of test rides in advance is recommended.
To take a test ride at any of these events, riders must have a valid motorcycle licence and appropriate clothing and safety gear. Local dealership staff will be on hand to give expert technical, sales and service advice and trained riders will be there to guide all test rides.
The Ducati UK event truck along with a fleet of demonstrators and display bikes begins at Riders of Cardiff on March 22 before finishing at Ducati Oxford on September 16.

Borgo Panigale, (Bologna, Italy), 5 March 2018 – Twenty-five years have passed since the first Monster left the factory in Borgo Panigale, Bologna. Since its presentation to the public and the press at the “Intermot” international exhibition in Cologne in 1992, and its launch onto the market in 1993, this iconic Ducati model has brought a radical change to the world of motorcycles, creating a brand new sector – the naked sport bikes – and generating one of the most devoted communities of enthusiasts.
It's an important anniversary for Ducati, a moment full of activities and initiatives to celebrate this significant landmark. Among the events is a Monster rally organised in France at the “Sunday Ride Classic 2018”, an international event dedicated to collectors' bikes to be held at the “Paul Ricard” Circuit in Le Castellet during the afternoon of 24 March. Ducati and the European DOCs (Ducati Owners Clubs) involved in the event have called Monsteristi together to stage a racetrack parade to celebrate the anniversary in spectacular fashion. The invitation to take part in this peaceful invasion of the circuit is open to all Monster owners who need only register for the event and turn up at the track.
March 5 is another date to remember. Exactly 25 years ago, the first Monster came off the Ducati production line in Borgo Panigale, Bologna. This year, to mark the anniversary, an original Monster 900 MY1993 is on display at the Ducati Museum. The bike, obtained via a collector and enthusiast who kept it in excellent condition, is ready to be admired by the museum's thousands of visitors in the room dedicated to this iconic and historic motorcycle.
Lots more events aimed at celebrating the 25th anniversary of Ducati's first Naked bike are planned for the 2018 World Ducati Week, the world's largest Ducati rally, held every two years, which gathers together thousands of enthusiasts. The event will be held on 20, 21 and 22 July 2018 at the Marco Simoncelli Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico. Yet another reason not to miss this fantastic occasion.

Ducati UK is pleased to announce its membership of the UK 30% Automotive Club joining other VW Group brands; VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, and Bentley, in fully supporting the aims of the UK Automotive 30% Club, and announcing Managing Director Tim Maccabee as the first leader of the motorcycle industry to become a member of the club. Maccabee has underlined his support of gender diversity as a business imperative.
The club leads a collaborative campaign to achieve a better gender balance within the automotive industry, with the aim of filling at least 30% of key leadership positions throughout the pipeline in the member organisations with women by 2030, through a ’30 by 30’ strategy. The club members strongly believe that more diversity and inclusion lead to a better customer experience and stronger business performance.
The UK Automotive 30% Club is open to CEOs and MDs of companies in the automotive industry such as manufacturers, retailers, and the adjacent businesses.

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 12 January 2018 – Ducati Motor Holding continues to grow. In 2017 the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer delivered 55,871 bikes to customers worldwide, strengthening the success of the previous year (55,451) and continuing the upward trend that has been a stable company characteristic for eight years.
“2017 was another great year for Ducati, both commercially and racing-wise,” stated Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding. “We battled it out for the MotoGP title all the way to the last race, won six GPs and brought home the best results since 2009. Continuous renewal of the product range and a strong focus on creating motorcycles of the utmost quality has allowed us to keep on growing despite the problems affecting the world market. I extend heartfelt thanks to all the men and women whose passion makes it possible, every day, to build these extraordinary bikes. Their work has made Ducati an emblem of Italian excellence”.
Each model in the range has played its part in achieving the results, confirming their continuous capacity to excite Ducati enthusiasts all over the globe. In 2017 the Multistrada family, now extended to include the new Multistrada 950, proved particularly popular. The Monster family also enjoyed healthy sales, as did the SuperSport and the exclusive 1299 Superleggera, 500 of which were purchased (at a price of 80,000 euro each) even before they went into production.
Ducati Scrambler solidified the success of the previous two years, reinforcing the range of Scrambler bikes offered by the addition of the new Desert Sled and Café Racer. A total of 14,061 Scrambler bikes were delivered in 2017, making a significant contribution to overall sales.
The Italian market was particularly buoyant, ending 2017 with 12% growth (8,806 motorcycles delivered).
The upward trend was also evident in Europe, where Ducati increased bike deliveries by 4% to a total of 31,123. Ducati also grew on the Spanish market, where sales rose by a considerable 28.3%.
Despite a challenging market in 2017, Ducati UK achieved impressive results with an increase in registrations vs 2016 and posting its 2nd best year of registrations in its history. The Multistrada was the top-selling family in the range with Scrambler and Monster coming in second and third.
In the USA - which remains Ducati's biggest market - deliveries were up by 1.3%, with bike sales totaling 8,898. In Argentina, the growth rate reached a stunning + 66%.
In Asian markets Ducati delivered a total of 5,805 bikes, also strengthening its position in China (+ 31%) where the dealership network doubled in size from 9 to 18.
“Despite a shrinking global market, we've succeeded in increasing our market share. We've expanded significantly in both consolidated markets such as Italy and Spain and in strategic emerging markets like China and Argentina. This is thanks to a range capable of generating loyalty among Ducatisti all over the world yet also winning over new customers with models such as the SuperSport, Multistrada 950 and the Scrambler family. Moreover, the sales success of the 1299 Superleggera and 1299 Panigale R Final Edition confirm our technological and brand leadership in the high-end sport bike segment”, added Andrea Buzzoni, Global Sales and Marketing Director.
This positive end to 2017 allows Ducati to look to the future with confidence. The 2018 product range promises to be even more competitive and innovative. For example, the eagerly awaited Panigale V4 will be the first Ducati factory motorcycle to be equipped with a four-cylinder engine, a direct offshoot of the Desmosedici used in MotoGP and the result of the biggest investment the company has ever made in a single product. The new Ducati Scrambler 1100 adds a totally new dimension to the Scrambler world, merging performance and high quality fishes to the boundless freedom of expression and the fun to ride, with the dimensions and comfort associated with bigger bikes. In addition, the Multistrada 1260 takes the technological evolution of the Multistrada to the next level: a high resolution instrument panel, electronic gear shift and a big increase in mid-range torque make it the perfect sport tourer. A renewed 821 and the 959 Panigale Corse complete the new bikes for 2018.
