McGuinness and Cummins with Honda Racing for 2016‏

2016 road racing campaign. The announcement was made on the main stage in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd on ‘TT Day’ at the Motorcycle Live exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham.

The ‘Morecambe Missile’ and the ‘Ramsey Rocket’ will contest the Superbike classes at the North West 200 and also the Superbike and Senior races at the Isle of Man TT aboard the proven Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP. Cummins will also take part in the 2016 Ulster GP and both riders are scheduled to race at Macau later in the year.

With 23 TT wins to his name, McGuinness proved he was still the man to beat in 2015, storming to victory in the blue riband Senior race and smashing the outright lap record around the 37.73-mile Mountain Course with a 132.701mph lap.

Isle of Man native Cummins, 29, took two podium places in tricky conditions at the 2015 Ulster GP aboard the Honda CBR, finishing second in the Dundrod 150 Superbike race and the final Superbike race of the day. Both riders competed in last month’s 12-lap Macau Grand Prix where they took fourth and seventh places respectively on their Honda machines.

In addition to their commitments with the official Honda Racing squad, McGuinness and Cummins will race with the private Jackson Racing team on Honda’s CBR600RR in the Supersport class at the NW200 and TT. The duo will also compete in the 2016 Endurance World Championship Superstock class aboard the Fireblade SP and Cummins will compete for Jackson Racing in the Superstock class on the roads.

Motorcycle Live has been a successful show for Honda who showcased its new range of 2016 motorcycles, including the all-new Africa Twin and the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, McGuinness and Cummins will hopefully ride to victory on in 2016.

  2. McGuinness and Cummins with Honda Racing for 2016

Honda has announced that John McGuinness and Conor Cummins will remain with Honda Racing for its 2016 road racing campaign including the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy. The announcement was made on the main stage on ‘TT Day’ at the Motorcycle Live exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham.

The ‘Morecambe Missile’ and the ‘Ramsey Rocket’ will contest the RST Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT races at the Isle of Man TT, as well as the North West 200, aboard the proven Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP. Cummins will also take part in the 2016 Ulster GP and both riders are scheduled to race at Macau later in the year.

The duo will also compete in the 2016 Endurance World Championship Superstock class aboard the Fireblade SP and Cummins will compete for Jackson Racing in the Superstock class on the roads.

    John McGuinness:

“2014 was a tough year for me so coming into 2015 I was determined to get my confidence back and show that there was still life in the old dog! I think I proved that in the Senior TT and managed to silence some critics who thought that my career was over! Smashing the lap record was the best feeling, but I know that there’s some great competition out there who are looking to take that from me. I’m confident in the Fireblade, and also myself, I know I have a good package to get back out there next year and do it again. The Honda team is like a family to me and the continued support means everything.”

    Connor Cummins:

“2015 was a mixed season for me, I didn’t really get the results I wanted at the North West or the TT, but it all came together at the Ulster and leaving with two second-places was great. The Fireblade is a great machine and I’m so happy to be back with Honda Racing again for now my third year. I feel like 2016 could be my year, I have two-years experience with the CBR now under my belt and looking forward to seeing what the season brings.”

    Neil Tuxworth:

“We’re pleased to be keeping both John and Conor for our 2016 road racing campaign. Our relationship with John is like family now and is proven to reap results. What he did in the Senior TT was unbelievable and to achieve a near sub-17 minute lap was phenomenal. Conor continues to impress us with his work ethic and attitude, there’s no doubt that he’s hungry for success and puts in 100% effort on and off the bike. We’re looking forward to 2016 and seeing what we can do in the road racing events.

  3. Norton confirm all Australian line-up for TT2016 campaign

    Posted on

Norton has confirmed an exciting all-Australian line up for their 2016 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy campaign. The Castle Donington based marque has signed Adelaide rider David Johnson alongside Melbourne’s Cameron Donald, who has raced for the team since 2014 The pair will compete in the RST Superbike and PokerStars Senior TT on the SG5 Norton. Glenn Richards has been brought in as development rider with Mick Grant continuing as team advisor.

Cameron made his TT debut in 2005, finishing as the fastest newcomer, which he followed up in 2006 with a sensational runner up position in the Senior TT. His most successful year on the Mountain Course, 2008, saw his only victories to date, winning the Superbike and Superstock races. He has already achieved Norton’s fastest ever lap of the Mountain Course and last year finished in the top twenty in the Superbike class.

Fellow countryman Johnson, who made his TT debut in 2010 winning the Newcomers Trophy, is one of road racing’s rising stars. He has a highest placed 4th from the 2014 RL360 Superstock Race and finished in the top ten last years in both the Superbike and Senior TT as well as the Superstock and Supersport 2 Races. He has a fastest lap of 131.595 mph, which he set in 2015, which puts him the 9th fastest rider in history.

Johnson is one of a new breed of riders equally at home on the roads or circuits, ending the long established myth that to be successful that you have to specialise. His short circuit career has seen him be a regular front-runner and podium finisher in the British Superstock Championship.

Cameron Donald said: “We’ve now done a huge amount of development work at the Isle of Man and having that continuity will really help us to make more progress at next year’s TT. It will be good to have two bikes out and I’m sure Dave and I will be comparing notes every session to help each other.”

David Johnson said: “It’s going to be an incredible experience at next year’s TT. Riding a Norton around the Isle of Man Mountain Course, and with Cameron Donald as my teammate is a massive honour. I’m really stoked and will give it my best shot.”

Stuart Garner, CEO Norton Motorcycles, commented: “We’ve made incredible progress since taking Norton back to the TT and it’s testament to the hard work that’s gone in by everyone at the factory as well as the feedback that we’ve had from Cameron. This was always going to be a long term project and we’re definitely on the next stage of our evolution, running a two man team with Glenn Richards testing and Mick Grant advising will give us the best opportunity to move things forward even more at next year’s TT.”

  4. TICKETS ON SALE FOR 2016 ISLE OF MAN TT RACES AND CLASSIC TT RACES

    Posted on

Even though the champagne has only just been sprayed at Macau, signifying the close of the 2015 road-racing season, thoughts are already turning to next year’s Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy and Classic TT Races presented by Bennetts with a broad choice of tickets for both events going on sale from Saturday 28th November.

The first day of Motorcycle Live at the NEC in Birmingham marks the official launch of the Isle of Man’s road racing season, with tickets for next year’s races available to buy online at www.iomtt.com from 09.00 (BST) on Saturday 28th November and from the TT Races stand at the show.

You can be right at the heart of the action with a range of tickets including the ultimate race day Platinum VIP hospitality ticket which offers unrivalled access as the racing unfolds, witnessing drama and history through to the famous grandstand on Glencrutchery road and the Fanzone grandstands, positioned around the course at its most spectacular points. You can also buy tickets to the special events including the ‘TT Preview Night’ and ‘MotoGP’ Mad Sunday lunch.

This year’s TT meeting features a revised schedule, culminating with the new ‘Championship Day’ with the solo and sidecar overall titles decided on the last race day, Friday 10th June.

After a week of qualifying, the race schedule kicks off with the RST Superbike Race and the first Sure Sidecar Race on Saturday 31st May and is followed by Monday's Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 and the RL360 Superstock Race. Wednesday's packed programme gets underway with the SES TT Zero, followed by the Monster Energy Supersport Race 2 and concluding with the Bennetts Lightweight TT, which moves to its new slot, swapping with the Sure Sidecar Race 2, which will open Friday’s race programme ahead of the PokerStars Senior TT.

While some of the riders have already confirmed whether they are staying with their teams, hot footing it to pastures new or switching manufacturers in a bid to glean those extra few vital seconds, there is huge interest building ahead of Motorcycle Live at the NEC in Birmingham when some of the leading teams and riders will reveal their plans for next year.

Can John McGuinness close on Joey Dunlop’s outright 26 TT race wins or will Michael Dunlop return to his 2014 form and deny the Morecambe Missile? Is Peter Hickman ready to challenge for race wins in only his third year, or is Ian Hutchinson going to obliterate the field as he did in 2010.

You can’t rule Bruce Anstey out of any race now that he’s broken his duck in the big bike class while James Hillier has served his apprenticeship and is ready to challenge for a Superbike win. And the emerging threat of the dynamic Lee Johnston, the revitalised Conor Cummins and the irrepressible Dean Harrison can be added to the mix making it the most anticipated TT meeting for many years.

In the sidecar class, new outright lap record holder Dave Molyneux is teaming up with Dan Sayle, undoubtedly a winning partnership with the most successful driver and most successful passenger in history back in tandem but with no less than seven race winning drivers set to line up next year including world champions Tim Reeves and the Birchall brothers, not to mention John Holden back with the fit again Andy Winkle, no one starts the clear favourite.

Tickets are also available for the 2016 Classic TT presented by Bennetts, now widely considered the world’s leading Classic Bike Races. Many of the leading TT riders now compete in the event on some of the greatest marques and machines in motorcycling history.

This year’s event features a new four race schedule with race days on Saturday 27th and Monday 29th August as well as a series of special events including the traditional no holds barred Classic TT Party on Saturday 29th and the Classic TT dinner with some of the greatest names in motorcycling history on Sunday 30th.

Tickets can be purchased from 9.00am on Saturday 28th November via the Official Isle of Man TT web shop (shop.iomtt.com) or by calling the Customer Service Team on +44 (0) 1624 640 000

  5. NEW LIVE CINEMA SHOW TO FORM CENTRE PIECE OF ISLE OF MAN TT EXPERIENCE AT MOTORCYCLE LIVE

    Posted on

John McGuinness talking through his incredible outright record breaking lap from this year’s PokerStars Senior TT is just one of many highlights on the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy stand at this year’s Motorcycle Live show at the NEC in Birmingham.

John will be revealing all his tricks of the trade as he commentates live to stunning big screen on board footage and he’ll be joined by many of his Mountain Course rivals, who will no doubt be listening intently as they plot to dethrone the Morecambe Missile.

Others lined up to talk through their laps include Michael Dunlop and James Hillier the latter man explaining what was going through his mind on his Kawasaki H2R parade lap from earlier in the year. And if you ever wondered what it feels like to race a sidecar around the 37¾ mile course, you’ll get the chance to get up close and personal with the Birchall brothers as they talk through one of their TT laps.

Many of the TT and Classic TT winning bikes will be on the stand including John McGuinnesses’ trusty Honda Fireblade that fired him to victory in the unforgettable PokerStars Senior TT, not to mention the Valvoline by Padgetts Racing Honda that Bruce Anstey rode for his first, hugely emotional, ‘big bike’ TT Mountain Course win in the RST Superbike Race.

No less emotional will be an appearance by Ian Hutchinson who will be reunited with the double Monster Energy Supersport Race winning Team Traction Control Yamaha while nostalgia fans can enjoy the Classic TT race winning Team Classic Suzuki and Black Eagle Racing MV Agusta that Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison raced to victory in the Motorsport Merchandise Formula 1 and Bennetts 500cc Races respectively.

And as well as the race winning-bikes, you can also see, and be pictured with, the glittering collection of every race winning trophy from this year’s TT Races including the iconic and priceless winged Mercury Senior TT Trophy, one of the most instantly recognisable trophies in world sport.

The Isle of Man will be taking centre stage at the NEC in the now traditional Classic TT Day on Sunday 29th of November, with many of the leading names from this year’s nostalgia fest appearing in chat shows with ITV4 commentators James Whitham and Steve Parrish and signing sessions throughout the day while the 2015 Motorcycle Live show will finish on its now traditional high with ‘Mad TT Sunday’ on 6th December with the TT stars reliving their best moments from this year’s memorable TT meeting.

The Isle of Man TT will be on stand 4e10 in Hall 4 for this year’s Motorcycle Live show, which runs from Saturday 28th November to Sunday 6th December.
