1. Touratech Destino Travel: The boot for motorcycle travellers

Specially designed for long distance riders, it combines comfort with outstanding protection and maximum practical benefits. The expectations placed on a motorcycle touring boot are as varied as everyday travel. It has to be safe and comfortable to wear for a long day in the saddle, it needs to be comfy enough for a tour of the city, and the foot climate must be adequate in hot weather or constant rain. A complex product for a simple purpose: motorcycle touring! For the Touratech product developers, this extremely broad and diverse range of requirements is both a challenge and an incentive. The aim in developing the new Destino Travel was to create an all-round motorcycle boot that makes no compromises in any area. With this in mind, Touratech has combined state-of-the-art technologies and extensive practical experience in the Destino Travel. Perfect climate regulation thanks to high-quality Sympatex membrane The particularly high-performance Sympatex membrane is responsible for waterproofness and climate regulation. The membrane has a water column of over 45,000 millimetres. Hydrophilic molecular chains absorb water vapour and transport it to the outside. The effect increases dynamically with increasing temperature or humidity differences. Incidentally, the Sympatex membrane is a German product and 100% recyclable. The 2.2 to 2.4 millimetre strong full-grain leather of the new Destino Travel is hydrophobic (water-phobic) treated in accordance with Sympatex specifications and therefore absorbs virtually no water. This supports the transport of moisture to the outside and is an important factor for the comfortable fit, even after long journeys in the rain. Innovative buckles with double joint The innovative, adjustable S-Lock buckles with an additional joint make handling even more convenient when opening. The buckles can be replaced if necessary. 360-degree protection concept Based on many years of experience in the development of high-quality motorcycle boots and the systematic evaluation of customer feedback, Touratech has further optimised the Destino Travel's safety concept. An additional TPU protector on the inside provides 360-degree protection for the ankle. The side facing the vehicle is equipped with suede heat protection. A plastic gear lever protector rounds off the protective equipment. Sole with clever double function Intensive development work was put into optimising the sole. This offers excellent stability on the footrests, but rolls comfortably when walking. The footbed, which is made from antibacterial recycled PU, also has channels that support the circulation of air in the boot. 3. Touratech comfort seats for the BMW R 1300 GS

   Touratech comfort seats are now also available for the BMW R 1300 GS. Equipped with a new type of heating as standard, the seats, which are available in different heights, can be easily replaced with the original equipment thanks to plug-and-play technology.

   As the central interface between rider and machine, the motorbike seat plays an important role in a holistic ergonomic concept. Touratech has been committed to this important area of vehicle equipment for three decades and has developed world-leading technologies for optimum motorcycle seating.

   Advanced technologies for maximum comfort
   Touratech comfort seats always have a core made of high-quality foam, the properties of which are not only model-specific, but also customised depending on the respective padding thickness using individual formulations. The carefully shaped foam core has an anatomically optimised groove that relieves pressure on the coccyx and concentrates power transmission on the sit bones. The precisely defined angle of the seat surface supports an ergonomically correct posture. The ingenious design of the seat cross-section makes it possible to realise a minimum crotch arch length with maximum cushion thickness. This makes it easy to reach the ground with your feet despite the generous upholstery.

   Premium quality made in Germany
   Touratech comfort seats are supplied exclusively as a ready-to-mount unit, so that easy replacement with a perfect fit is guaranteed. Like the foam core, the high-quality, accurately fitting seat base is a quality product made in Germany. Touratech comfort seats are equipped with the advanced Fresh Touch cover as standard. The special finish of this material ensures intense reflection of the sun's rays, reducing the heating of the surface by up to 10 degrees Celsius compared to conventional materials. The most striking feature is the elaborate decor, which is coordinated with the vehicle design but sets striking visual accents. 
   However, the seats also have some special technical features. The pillion seat, for example, has no longitudinal adjustment, so that a bombproof hold is guaranteed. This was made possible by the anatomical contour, which allows the pillion passenger to sit in a sovereign position independently of the rider. 

   Optimum heat diffusion thanks to innovative heating technology
   The new Touratech comfort seats for the BMW R 1300 GS, which are always supplied with heating, also offer real innovations on the inside. A new technology enables even more homogeneous heat distribution over a maximum area. The extremely slim design of the new seat heating, which is completely laminated into the base material, now makes it possible for the first time to equip low - and therefore thinly upholstered - seats with this comfort feature.

   Plug & Play: Simple replacement, operation as usual
   As you would expect from Touratech, the new heated seats for the BMW R 1300 GS also work as an easy-to-install plug-and-play solution. They are operated as usual via the existing BMW control system. This means: via a rotary switch on the handlebars for the rider's seat and a separate switch for the pillion rider.

   The rider's seat for the BMW R 1300 GS is available in four heights: low (-2 cm seat height), standard (standard seat height), high (+2 cm) and extra high (+4 cm). The pillion seat is always supplied in standard height.

4. Cardo kickstarts ‘The Year of The Mesh’ with the launch of ‘Mesh Boost’

    ‘Mesh Boost’ expands DMC group to 31 riders, and introduces brand-new Dynamic Mesh features – all this plus the launch of Cardo’s Celluar Intercom connectivity 

   Cardo Systems, the global leader in wireless communication systems for groups in motion, announces a first-ever ‘Mesh-Boost package of new capabilities to all second generation PACKTALK devices. ‘Mesh Boost’ expands Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) group to 31 riders, adds Remote Grouping, and Public Mesh features and enhances existing Private Chat mode. On top of these, Cardo will also add a VoIP-based Cellular Intercom to all Cardo products using the Cardo Connect app.

   ‘Mesh Boost’ takes rider connectivity to the next level, enhancing group communication capabilities, flexibility and range. Best of all, the new collection will be available, free of charge, via a simple over-the-air software update.

   In 2025, Cardo will celebrate its 10-year anniversary since bringing the world’s first mesh communicator – the original PACKTALK – to market, an innovation that revolutionized the world of communication. Next year will be ‘The Year of The Mesh’, starting with ‘Mesh Boost’ as the phase one in a line of exciting announcements to come.

   Unprecedented connectivity

   ‘Mesh Boost’ will be automatically available early next year as a free over-the-air software update to all users of Cardo’s current 2nd generation DMC devices – including the PACKTALK PRO, EDGE and Neo – making it even easier to communicate with Cardo.

   Key enhancements include:

   • Expanded group size to 31 riders

   Cardo’s Mesh Boost is the first in the market to allow groups of up to 31 riders to communicate seamlessly in true DMC mode – more than doubling the previous capacity of 15 – without losing any of the DMC characteristics that have made Cardo PACKTALK’s the best-selling comms in the world. Now, even more riders can experience the benefits of auto-reconnection, ease of pairing and reliable connection.

   • Public Mesh

   This new feature allows users to talk with up to any 31 participants within the range of the DMC network, offering a truly open channel for spontaneous conversations with nearby riders. Also a handy workaround for those existing users wanting to simplify DMC usage even further, just select the Public Mesh group and ride.

   • Private chat +

   Expanding the existing Private Chat feature, riders will now be able to create private chat sessions within their group with any number of participants (as opposed to just two), making it easier to have personalized conversations within the group on the go. Users are invited by being selected through the Cardo Connect App and can accept the invitation as they would a normal call.

   • Remote grouping

   Understanding that all riders don’t start at the same place when heading out for a ride, Cardo’s remote grouping capability allows a group to be set up ahead of time by simply sharing a link generated from within the Cardo Connect App. Links can be forwarded to other users, but only Cardo 2^nd generation DMC users are validated to join.

   Plus NEW Cellular Intercom connectivity

   Along with the new ‘Mesh Boost’ features, Cardo has also launched Celluar Intercom connectivity. Using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) functionality, Cardo’s new Cellular Intercom connectivity ability will allow connectivity between an unlimited number of Cardo users, no matter the range. Like voice and video calls over popular messaging Apps, the functionality relies on a cellular network being strong and available – otherwise known as ‘data signal’ – and a user’s data plan. Cellular intercom will be open to all Cardo units, Bluetooth and DMC, connected to the Cardo Connect App.

   2024: 20 years of ‘Breaking Boundaries’ and 2025: The ‘Year of The Mesh’
