  1. Over 1000 fans shared the excitement of last weekend’s MotoGP from the exclusive Ducati Grandstand at Silverstone circuit. For 2014, due to public demand Ducati UK will more than double the number of seats available from 1055 to 2310.

The Luffield B Ducati Grandstand was the place to be as Ducati fans found themselves in prime position to see the best of the action at Silverstone. The covered Luffield B Grandstand provided spectators with a view of the bikes thundering down the Wellington Straight into the braking zone for Brooklands Corner before negotiating Luffield. The Luffield complex gave the spectators not only a fantastic view of all the significant action of the race but also produced an amazing atmosphere.

The stand was a sea of red as Ducati fans made use of some of the goodie items provided by Ducati UK which included a Ducati flag, water bottle,T-shirt and Lanyard/Ticket holder. The spectacle and atmosphere created by the Ducati area was such that with many spectators in other areas enquired about obtaining tickets for the Ducati Grandstand for next year.

For 2014, Ducati UK have secured the entire Luffield Grandstand which will seat 2310 fans making this one of the biggest Ducati Grandstands on the MotoGP calendar.

Weekend tickets for the Ducati Luffield Grandstand are now already available with Weekend Tickets currently at a special ‘early bird’ price of just £90. Usual ticket price is £100.

Sunday only tickets are also currently available at a special ‘early bird’ price of £75. Usual price is £85

  2. A woman from Isleworth, West London, accumulated 42 licence penalty points last year, according to the latest figures from the DVLA1.  The points were all for failing to disclose the identity of the driver between 26 May and 21 December 2012.

The second-highest points total, 36, went to a man from Warrington, Cheshire, who was caught driving without insurance six times in less than two weeks, between 20 February and 2 March 2012.

Other notable offenders include: • A man from Southend-on-Sea with 30 points, who was caught speeding ten times between 14 March 2011 and 3 August 2012. • A man from Blackburn with 29 points, who was caught speeding eight times in two months, between 29 September 2011 and 29 November 2011. • A man from Pevensey, East Sussex, with 24 points who was caught speeding six times in just two weeks, between 30 September and 13 October 2012.

Failing to give the identity of the owner, speeding, and driving uninsured are the most common reasons for points.

Of the top twenty licence-points holders, only two are women.

IAM chief executive Simon Best said: “It’s really disappointing to see that this issue has not yet been resolved.  DVLA and the Courts Service are upgrading their computer systems to ensure that offence information is shared more efficiently, but this is not due to be in place until October.  When drivers with ten speeding offences are getting away with holding a licence, these improvements cannot come quickly enough.

The IAM has no sympathy for owners who refuse to reveal the identity of the driver, and we would welcome an urgent consultation on new ways to deal with this problem.   Drivers must expect that 12 points means a ban or the whole system falls into disrepute.”

  3. SHEDS and garages are being emptied, cars and vans are being loaded and motorcycle enthusiasts across the UK are getting ready to sniff out the bargains with one of Europe’s largest autojumble events now just days away.

The 20th Carole Nash Eurojumble will descend on Netley Marsh, Southampton, on September 6-7, with nearly 290 trade plots set to offer a raft of bikes, parts and accessories to the near 10,000 visitors expected to attend.

Show manager Nick Mowbray said: “It really is a sight to behold with the hustle and bustle of autojumblers uncovering that perfect piece for their restoration project and traders turning their old bits and bobs into bundles of cash.”

As well as regular and well-known traders, the ‘garage clear out’ will return by popular demand for 2013, with visitors invited to move the contents of their garage into their chosen vehicle and head down to the event for a one day only trading plot.

With the Eurojumble now entering its third decade, the popularity of the event has grown and grown and organisers are looking forward to once again welcoming guests from both the UK, and across mainland Europe.

“With our location down on the south coast, you will see many motorcycles around the place with European number plates as people come from far and wide to search through the vast autojumble.”

Gates are open on both days from 9am to 5am, with a two-day ticket priced at just £15. Camping facilities are available for on both Thursday and Friday night at a cost of £20.
